Technology here is less about pretending everything works perfectly and more about understanding why it works at all. I learn by building, breaking, troubleshooting, documenting, and improving systems over time.
Technology is the thread that connects a lot of this site.
From self-hosted services and network design to automation, monitoring, identity, and everyday tools, this section is where the technical side of The New Atlas branches out. Some pages are practical references. Others are project journals. Most are a little of both.
Tech Lab
A broader space for software, systems, tools, troubleshooting, and the technical experiments that do not belong to one specific project.
Home Lab
The infrastructure side: Proxmox, networking, self-hosted services, VPN access, identity, monitoring, segmentation, and the ongoing effort to make the whole environment easier to understand and maintain.
Home Automation
Smart lighting, voice assistants, routines, connected devices, and practical experiments in making the home more responsive without turning convenience into unnecessary complexity.
What I am working on now.
The active direction is centered on a more secure and observable home-lab environment: stronger network segmentation, better monitoring, cleaner identity and access, clearer documentation, and a physical rack that makes the systems easier to manage at a glance.
The point is not to know everything.
The point is to keep learning enough to build something better than the version that came before it.
